Billiard Table and Supplies

Where on earth did billiards come from? History suggests that it originated in France but this is limited to certain illustrations and paintings that feature a game that closely resembles modern day billiards. Few people agree about where the game originated or evolved from and very few researchers have had any success unearthing its mysterious past. Knowing a little bit about the events transpiring at the time may shed some light on the enigma. The crusades were happening at the time which involved many Christians travelling throughout the Meditteranean and the Middle East.
One of the most notable things that happened during the crusades, besides the massacre of countless “infidels” was the excavation of King Solomon’s temple by the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon and the Knights Hospitallers who were actually employed to protect and heal pilgrims and crusaders traveling to the Holy Land. They were poor and ill equipped for battle or medicine and quietly dug in Jerusalem for nine years. Then something was found inside that temple that changed the world because the Knights quickly rose to great power and wealth and changed their names to the Knights Templar.
The Knights Templar are believed to have brought billiards from France to England, but may have in fact brought the game from much further away or perhaps discovered the game. Perhaps the game is not a game at all but actually a sacred ritual masked as a game to hide the truth. Either way it is a widely popular game today with million dollar tournaments and pool table in almost every bar in America.
Billiards is a very geometric and mathematical game whose instruments closely resemble measuring and sighting rods used since ancient times to find latitude, longitude, exact time and year, as well as producing a standard of measure based completely on natural phenomenon such as perspective and gravity. A billiard cue in the right hands can be used to discover the exact date, longitude and latitude with the right knowledge and this was hugely important for agriculturally based societies.
Or it could simply be an evolution of the croquet mallet better suited for indoor, table use.
Billiard tables could also be the indoor version of a bowling and croquet lawn where ball would be struck into shallow holes much like golf. It is also the dimensions of a golden rectangle which can be divided into certain ratios into infinity and was best illustrated by Leonardo DaVinci, a highly initiated secret Knight Templar and mason.
The Masonic connection with billiards cannot be ignored as most lodges were formed simultaneously with pool halls and billiards with its many games being the cover for supposedly secret meetings. Recreation was severely limited by the pope at the time, which was after the Templar’s were ordered to be killed on sight and largely went underground. Billiards was one of the approved games by the pope, and many former Templar’s formed new groups which eventually became the Freemasons. Masons everywhere use tipped rods closely resembling pool cues in their ceremonies and rituals today and their main symbols are the square and compass, geometric tools.
This is simply one potential history for the origins of that mysterious game billiards, one that is much more interesting and conspiratorial than most. Just imagine when the game of pool could have been used to take over the world.
